New Perch Community Forum coming soon
Our new forums will enable us to provide much more than somewhere for you to get help. We’ll be using them to discuss more of the things that matter to you, and helping highlight Registered Developers and Perchers who help others.
In the next week or so, if you visit the forums you’ll see something new. We’re replacing our old forum system with a new forum. We are adding features to make it a great place to not only get help with Perch questions – but also to discuss Perch and share the things you are doing.
As our old forums got busier it became almost impossible for official support to see which threads had not had an answer, leading to some threads being overlooked. We really don’t like it when that happens so the new system will make it much easier for us to help you.
We also wanted to be able to mark things as be solved – so if you are searching the forum you can see what the answer to a query was. There is nothing more annoying than finding someone with the exact same problem as you but not being able to see what fixed it!
If you are a Registered Developer that status will be flagged up when you answer a question to show you are an experienced Percher, and points will be awarded when solutions are accepted to help show who is taking the time to help other people.
There are a whole host of other improvements – such as being able to have an avatar bringing a bit more personality to your posts. Posting code snippets is also much improved.
We’ll keep the old forum online as an archive for the foreseeable future so it will still be searchable. We have notes of Suggestions made in the Suggestions forum. However people digging up old threads and following old advice was actually starting to become a bit of a problem and we’re going to see how we can make it clear when advice is old in the new forum.
This is just the start of a focus on more community involvement around Perch. Once again this is something that we learned from the survey and we hope that this is a good first step towards what many of you asked for.
