Building the next version of Blog
As part of our programme of continued renewal and updating of our free apps, time has come to think about the Blog app again. It’s by far the most used app, and so we want to get it right.
One thing we’ll definitely be looking into is the integration of comments. The recent addition of forms capability to Perch 1.8 means that the groundwork is in place to provide a really good commenting system for the blog, and so that’s something we’re going to be looking at. Comments need moderation and spam protection, so there’s plenty there to keep us busy.
As ever, we’re not looking to bloat Blog out with useless features, but we do want it to be realistically useful. For those of you who use Blog, or have considered it and decided against, we’d like to hear from you.
- What features are missing that would cause you to need to use a dedicated blogging tool alongside Perch?
- What currently prevents Blog being useful for your sites?
- If you do use it, what do you find awkward or laborious in its implementation?
- What are top 3 most important things we should consider adding?
We have some ideas ourselves, of course, but you use Blog a lot more than we do, so its your opinion that really counts. We’d love to hear from you – feel free to post a comment below, or if you prefer, just drop us an email.
