Submit your Perch Blog RSS feed to Apple News

With the release of iOS 9 later this year iPhone users will have a new Apple News icon on their home screen.

There is not a lot of information yet available about Apple News but the information on the Apple website tells us that:

“iOS 9 adds a new app to your Home screen. News conveniently collects all the stories you want to read, from top news sources, based on topics you’re most interested in — so you no longer need to move from app to app to stay informed.”

You can submit your Blog or News site to Apple right now for potential inclusion in Apple News. Currently you need to do this by submitting an RSS feed. If you haven’t already set up RSS for your Perch blog, you can find a video here. You can also create an RSS feed of any other Perch content including Perch Runway Collections.

As the above screenshot shows, Apple are intending to launch a new format for submitting your news. This format will allow the submission of more than just simple text. We’ll be keeping an eye on news about this format so we can help Perchers take advantage of a new way to share their content.

For now however, it might be a good idea to submit relevant RSS feeds to Apple by signing in with iCloud and following the instructions.
