People love Perch: Adrian Payne
We love to hear how much People love Perch and this interview is with Adrian Payne, a developer with creative web agency Brightworks.
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m Adrian Payne and I’m a web developer with Brightworks – a creative web agency based in Dublin, Ireland. We have a small dedicated team of talented people working on a range of services from web design to social media training.
What sites have you used Perch on recently?
Positive Dog Training – a Dublin based dog day care, grooming and training centre. Yes, that’s right – dog day care! They were unhappy with their old site, which was on Wordpress, so we developed a fresh new design for them along with integrating Perch as their content management system.
Irish Accounts – Irish Accounts provide accounting and company secretarial services around Ireland. We were tasked with migrating their website onto a new, less complex content management system – Perch. Mission accomplished!
Why did you choose Perch?
I had been shopping around for a main CMS to use for a while. I’d played with Wordpress, Concrete5, Drupal etc. but was not happy with their complexity or their desire to take control of every aspect of a website.
A lot of website projects simply don’t need the high level of complexity that, dare I say it, they force upon you. It can be overkill for the site in question and often not too easy for clients to get used it. I don’t remember exactly how, but I stumbled across Perch one day and it was exactly what I had been looking for – an easy to install, easy to use, no nonsense, stay-out-of-my-design CMS. That last part was very important for me.
How do you find working with Perch?
It’s simple to install and integrate into a website. The amount of time saved in these areas has greatly reduced our project development times overall. The addons are also easy to install and the near-instantaneous support replies on the forum are impressive to say the least.
How do your content creators/site owners find working with Perch?
Honestly, our clients have been so quiet after projects have been completed that I often wonder has something gone horribly wrong. However, it’s quite the opposite! Everyone just “gets it” straight away. We’ve never gone over an hour of training time with clients and they’ve yet to come back to us with questions. Quite simply, Perch does exactly what it says on the tin and it does it well.
